Apologies for the delayed posting. We were on holiday for a week during Thanksgiving Break. Throughout the past week, Michael has been busy putting the finishing touches on the electrical work before Shawn came on Sunday (yesterday) and removing the old wiring.
I took the kids out while Shawn & his friend worked on completing the wiring upstairs. Michael started pulling wire downstairs. Close to the end of the day, Michael called to report happily that we had working switches and outlets. Ooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! We tested the switches, plugged in the electric blankets and the kids stereo. They all worked ... No more nasty extension cords! Woo hoo! It is very easy to take these amenities for granted. We have brought the house into the 21st century! LOL. :O)
We are officially ready for insulation and will be ordering products today for the house. We recently watched an episode of "This Old House" where they used an expandable foam material to insulate and prevent the radiant heat from leaking outdoors. Michael found some pretty cool product at foampower.com which is what we will most likely go with.
Also, I thought I would note that the roof of our house looks AMAZING from the inside. The wood looks just like it did when they put it on in 1900. Michael and I were just wondering what the Kellys did 100 years ago in the house around supper time. It really does give me a warm feeling to know they were raising their two children six years after the house was completed at the beginning of the then new millennium. The parallels are quite cool. :O)
